Distance to Cordoba: 76 km Zuheros is a small, pintoresque village of 900 in the mountainous Subbetica Sierra region (southeast Cordoba Province). It is perched at 620 m of altitud, on the northern edge of the Subbetica Mountain Nature Reserve, and the Cueva de los Murciélogos (Bat Cave), inhabited in neolithic times, is 4 km away at 980 m. There is a Moorish castle and the streets have a distinctly Andalusian flavour to them, preserving the region's popular architecture. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through its streets and the views of the mountainous scenery. The castle has its roots in Moorish times, but was completely rebuilt during the renaissance, in the 16th century. Only one tower and part of a wall with battlements remain, from which there are excellent views of the plains below. The 16th-century Our Lady of Remedios Church stands nearby, probably on the site of the old mosque. Archeological Museum. Plaza de la Paz, 2. Tel 957694725.
